MU Adopts a New Orleans Library
The MU Libraries and the MU School of Information Science and Learning Technologies have adopted the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) campus as part of the American Library Association's Katrina library adoption program.

Photos of the damaged campus from SUNO's website (slideshow takes a very long time to load): http://www.suno.edu/katrina_view.htm

Flickr search for SUNO library shows both photos of the devastated library building and some photos of the temporary library acquiring new books: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=suno+library&m=text
What You Can Do:
You can help the Mizzou Adopt-a-Library Team rebuild the Leonard Washington Memorial Library Collection in several ways:
1. by donating money. We are currently working with SUNO and other partner libraries to find the best and easiest mechanism to get money into a dedicated account, possibly a credit account with SUNO's preferred book vendor, so that SUNO can purchase the best brand new books . Please watch this space for instructions.
2. by donating books from your own collections. Please check them against lists of SUNO's lost books, linked below, for suitable replacements. If you have books that match, or contain a similar subject matter, and would like to donate them, please send a list of the available titles with author and ISBN information to Anne Barker at BarkerA@missouri.edu or 882-6324. Ms. Barker is working with Leonard Washington Memorial Library to review and select replacement books.
What We Have Done So Far:
1. Raised money to ship donated books to SUNO (Christmas Columbia Mall gift wrapping booth fundraiser)
2. Shipped some donated books and brought books by car on the way to the American Library Association meetings in New Orleans (see photos, above)
3. During the ALA Conference Libraries Build Communities Volunteer Day, helped process donated books at SUNO
4. SISLT sponsored a dinner meeting with other SUNO partners in New Orleans, working toward further coordination and communication
