MU THESES AND DISSERTATIONS PROCESSING PROGRESS REPORT

latest update 7/3/08
This report is normally posted at month's end or when a semester's dissertations and theses have been received/released from the MU Graduate Office. The semester/degree group will be shown only once after work is completed.  Each semester/degree is counted and treated separately, and is generally cataloged in the order of receipt/release.

The following announcement was sent to MU graduate students March 15, 2006:
"Beginning Fall Semester 2006, all graduate students completing graduate degrees FS 2006 and beyond will be required to submit final theses and dissertations to the Graduate School in the approved electronic format."

Semesters: Fall (Aug.-Dec.) • Winter (Jan.-May) • Summer (June-Aug.)

* Only ETDs that are freely available online are sent to UMI/ProQuest; those restricted to the UM Campuses or the University of Missouri-Columbia are not. Electronic Dissertations and Theses will not have a location since they are online. Number fluctuations on total theses/dissertations frequently signal some are being held or have recently been released by the Graduate Office.

Refer to Electronic Thesis and Dissertations: Cataloging Policies & Procedures as needed. These procedures have been completed, but will be revised and augmented as necessary over time.

Retrospective MERLIN Links to Digital Theses/Dissertations

The UMI/ProQuest Digital Dissertations

program provides digital versions of theses and dissertations for current theses and dissertations, and is in the process of providing retrospective coverage as well. Catalog Department staff have added URL links in MERLIN to UMI/ProQuest versions of our theses and dissertations. We have also added links retrospectively as time allowed. Because of a change in MERLIN practice, we will cease adding UMI/ProQuest links on records for print theses/dissertations, and will create separate electronic recourses records. We will continue to add UMI/ProQuest links to ETD records.

UMI/ProQuest coverage for MU masters theses begins with the Fall 2003 semester, so digital versions are not available prior to that.

Currently UMI/ProQuest URL links are available in MERLIN for
                                  Dissertations: Fall 1996 - Summer 2004

                                  Masters: Fall 2003 - Summer 2004
