Renew Books that I have Checked out
- Books and government documents that are checked out from MERLIN Libraries (UMC, UMKC, UMR, and UMSL) may be renewed up to two times online or in person at a MERLIN library with your university ID.
- Books that are checked out from MOBIUS Libraries may be renewed two times online.
- Books that are “OVERDUE” may be renewed online. Books that are “BILLED” must be brought back to the Ellis Library Circulation Desk or any branch library to be checked in. Once a MOBIUS book has reached “BILLED” status, it must be sent back to the lending library and can not be checked in and then checked out again.
- Bound journals may not be renewed.
To renew books online:
- Go to the MERLIN Catalog. (opens in a new window)
- Select the MY LIBRARY ACCOUNT button at the top of the MERLIN Catalog screen.
- Enter your PawPrint and password.
If your pawprint does not work, enter your name, EMPL ID # and PIN number when prompted.
- Students: find your EMPL ID # in myZou under Demographics
- Faculty or staff: look up your employee ID number - directions here

- Enter zero + EMPL ID + c

- Select the books that you wish to renew.
- Click on the button to renew. Do not “RENEW ALL” unless all of the items are either overdue or soon to be overdue. If you “RENEW ALL” all of the books you have checked out will be due on the same day and you may lose time on those that are not yet due.
- If the due date on the books you are trying to renew does not change, there may be a number of reasons. Please come to the Ellis Library Circulation Desk or any branch library and ask a staff member to look at your record and tell you what is causing the due date to not advance as it should.
- You may bring MERLIN books to be renewed to the Circulation Desk at Ellis or any branch library if you do not wish to renew online.
- Some items may not be eligible for renewal: items with holds for other patrons and those from other MERLIN Libraries that have already had two renewals (either online or in-person).
- Only you can renew any MOBIUS books you have checked out (online only). They cannot be renewed by circulation staff.
- Books may not be renewed by telephone.
