  • Dissertation Abstracts 
    • Search by keyword, author, advisor, institution and many other fields.
    • Coverage: 1861-date
    • Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350-word abstracts written by the author.
    • Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts.
    • A select number of titles include free 24 page previews.
    • Request dissertations through Interlibrary Loan (ILL@MU).

  • Logon to ILL@MU  and fill out the dissertation request form.
  • If the dissertation is non-circulating:
    • ILL@MU will automatically order the dissertation from ProQuest
    • You will be given the option to either borrow the dissertation or to purchase it for $31.00.
  • If the dissertation is "in use" or "not on the shelf":
    • You will be notified
    • You will be given the option of purchasing the dissertation at $31.00 or the option of us holding the request for a month and trying to borrow the item again.
  • We are unable to purchase every dissertation that is not available for loan due to budget constraints.

  • Purchase a dissertation through MU Libraries
    
    • Logon to ILL@MU and fill out the dissertation request form.
    • In the "comments" field state that you would like to purchase a personal copy of the dissertation.  The cost is $31.00 (the price is subject to change by ProQuest)
    • We will order the item for you and have you come to the ILL office to pick it up and pay for it.
    • We request that you pay for the dissertation with cash, check or money order when you pick it up.  At this time we are unable to accept credit cards or charge to your student account. 
  •  Purchase dissertations directly from ProQuest using a credit card:

    • The cost is $43.00 (the price is subject to change by ProQuest).
    • ProQuest will deliver the item directly to you.
