What is Traditional Print Reserve?

Reserve acts as a library within the library. Instructors place course readings, old exams, worksets, etc. on reserve to guarantee their availability to students. Materials on reserve usually check out for two hour loan periods.

How do I know if something is on Traditional Print Reserve?

To learn if something is on traditional print reserve:

  1. Connect to the MERLIN Library Catalog
  2. Click on the Course Reserves button at the top of the screen.
  3. Search by either the course name or the name of the instructor

Materials on traditional print reserve are NOT available over the web.  Reserve materials must be checked out in person at the reserve desk. Please bring your student ID with you.

Where is the Reserve Desk?

The Ellis Library Reserve Desk is located on 1st Floor North , adjacent to Circulation (Ellis 1st floor).  Branch libraries have their own reserve sections which are not part of Ellis Library's reserve/seminar system.

What do I need to check out traditional print reserve material?

You need your student ID to check something out of Reserve.

How can faculty put material on reserve?

Faculty who wish to put material on traditional print reserve can fill out a Reserve List Form, available at the Reserve Desk, or they can fill out an online reserve list form on the Print Reserves Pages for Faculty.
