June 1996 Construction of  UMLD begins.  Photos of the construction of UMLD.
November 10, 1998 In the early morning hours Columbia Missouri was struck by a tornado.  UMLD suffered significant damage during this weather event.
March 15-18, 2001 June L. DeWeese, Head of Access Services, Ellis Library, University of Missouri-Columbia, gave the following presentation to the  Association of College and Research Libraries at the 10th National Conference in Denver, Colorado.  The presentation details severe weather damage that occurred on November 10, 1998, stressing the importance of having a disaster plan.

October 31, 2002 UM Libraries Directors, and other esteemed guests, gathered at the UM Libraries Depository for the dedication plaque ceremony, and unveiling.  Pictures taken that day.
 June 30th 2003  UMLD added to its stored volumes its one millionth book.  See the millionth book.
October 27-29, 2004 James Keyzer-Andre, UM Libraries Depository Manager, presented a program at the Missouri Library Association Conference in St. Louis on October 28th 2004.

March 1st 2007 U2, the second module of the UM Libraries Depository comes online. U2 is a 27,000 square foot storage space in the Columbia Subterra. Photos of the setup of U2.
