You could win $100 and have your video posted on the Journalism Library's web site.

Contest Rules

All contestants must be currently enrolled MU students.

  • Contestants agree to allow their video(s) to be shown by the MU Libraries for promotional and educational purposes.
  • Contestants may submit multiple entries.
  • Videos must be less than 5 minutes long, including credits.
  • Videos must be free of strong language and explicit sexual content.
  • Video must be the creation of contestants and not infringe on the copyright of a third party.
  • If you plan to film in a library please check in at the front desk with an overview of what you plan to do in the library. PLEASE respect the privacy of others in the library, and don’t film them without asking for permission first.
  • Videos must be submitted as a video data file (.wmv, .mov or .avi format).
  • Each video must be submitted on a CD-R, DVD-R, or flash drive along with a submission form, to the circulation desk at the journalism library.
  • If you choose to put your submission on a flash drive, please put it in an envelope available at the front desk. Include your name and email on the envelope so it can easily be returned to you.
  • The winner in each category will receive $100.
  • Winners will be notified within one week of the due date.

  • Technology

    • We have wireless headphones for the TV’s,
    • a Kindle with The L.A. Times, The Boston Globe, and The Houston Chronicle and MIT Technology subscriptions
    • Ten IPod Touches
    • A digital voice recorder
    • A still camera
    • 20 laptops available for check out.
    • We also have 2 color scanners and color printer that can print both 81/2 X 11 11X17 sized documents
  • Collections

  • The Jack and Dorothy Fields Collection- This collection offers a wide array of travel, nature, and various other photojournalism books.
  • The Weinberg Collection- A collection of fiction featuring journalists as main characters. The Weinberg collection encompasses over four thousand novels.
  • The Picture of the Year International (POYI) Collection- This is a collection of books that have been entered into the POYI contest in the past. The collection began ten years ago, and continues to grow.
  • Newspapers - We have thousands of newspaper holdings available online in databases such as Press Display and Factiva. Several international, national and regional print newspapers are available in the library.

Don't have equipment?

Check out a video camera from the Journalism Library. The Journalism Library also has ILife Suite and Creative Suite 4 on our computers.

Deadline for submission is Sept. 25, 09.

Click on this submission form and print it out and bring to the Journalism Library Circulation Desk along with your video. We also have the submission forms at the circulation desk that you can fill out.
