NetFlix at MU Libraries?
How about some NetFlix? The link has a story about an academic library in NY that’s having success with NetFlix, and also includes a citation to a Library Trends article about the topic. It would be really cool.
Thank you for this suggestion. I have passed it along to the MU Libraries Administration. I also read that, “Netflix says library distribution of rented DVD’s or streaming video violates its terms of use.” You can read more about that here: http://chronicle.com/blogPost/Academic-Libraries-Add-Netflix/27018/.

An Informative Library Tour
My name is Vincent Tacchi and I have recently brought my FIG class to tour Ellis Library. I am writing to essentially thank the two ladies that gave my tour, Nancy and Gwen. Both ladies gave great tours to my students, and were very helpful in showing us how to use the library’s website. They were quick to answer any questions that we had, and made sure that we were given a clear and concise answer.
Once again, I would just like to thank Nancy and Gwen for giving my class a very informative tour.
Thank you so much for your comments. I will pass them along to the librarians.

Noise in Ellis Library
Every night, I come to Ellis hoping to have a quiet place to study and work, without major distractions and in the first few weeks of school, I have found this to be impossible. The rooms upstairs that are supposed to be quiet are overflowing with loud and obnoxious students, who clearly have no intention of studying. While I realize that it is not the job of the library to babysit, I wish there was a way to keep the library quiet for the few of us that actually are trying to study. I understand that the problem is coming mostly from sorority and fraternity members who are here purely for mandatory study hours, and as a member of the greek community myself, I am embarrassed at this. Is there anything the library can do?
Thanks for letting us know about this noise problem. If you are studying in Ellis Library and there are problems with noise, please let the security officer know. Our security officers make rounds quite regularly so you should see them walking by in their black uniforms. They will be glad to handle any noise complaints. But I would also like to point out that not all areas of Ellis Library are considered quiet areas. The 3rd floor is a generally quiet area, but we do allow group study and some discussion. If you want to study in a completely quiet area, you may study in rooms 201 or 202 where we do not allow any noise.
Thank you for sending this comment. I have informed our security staff, and they will be monitoring that area more closely.

Problem With DVDs
Could you please clearly label the DVDs in your collection that do not play on US DVD players. It would save me a lot of time and frustration.
We have labeled those DVDs, and we have computers that will play those DVDs available for checkout at the Reserve Desk. Please let us know which DVD you are referring to so that we can make sure it is properly labeled. Thanks.
