NetFlix at MU Libraries?

http://tametheweb.com/2010/09/09/using-netflix-at-an-academic-library-a-ttw-guest-post-by-rebecca-fitzgerald/

How about some NetFlix? The link has a story about an academic library in NY that’s having success with NetFlix, and also includes a citation to a Library Trends article about the topic.  It would be really cool.

Thank you for this suggestion. I have passed it along to the MU Libraries Administration. I also read that, “Netflix says library distribution of rented DVD’s or streaming video violates its terms of use.” You can read more about that here: http://chronicle.com/blogPost/Academic-Libraries-Add-Netflix/27018/.

Movies for Checkout

I think the library should have movies you can rent.

Thanks for your comment about movie rentals in the Library. Ellis Library does actually circulate DVDs and some VHS tapes to students for a one-week checkout period. These movies are kept in the Current Periodicals Reading Room, which is located in the northwest corner of the first floor.

The DVDs available include film classics, some foreign films, some TV series like South Park and the Simpsons, a number of documentaries, some anime, the BBC Shakespeare series, most of the Jane Austen films and many others.

For information on locating specific movies at Ellis Library, visit http://mulibraries.missouri.edu/search/books/findingdvds.htm.
