Renew Books Using a Proxy card

How do I renew books checked out with a proxy card?
Bring them to the circulation desk or renew them online. To renew a book online, following these instructions:

  1. Select the option: MY LIBRARY ACCOUNT
  2. Enter your name.
  3. Enter your EMPL ID preceded by a 0 (zero) and followed by the letter c (for Columbia).
  4. If you have more than one proxy borrower, you will need to check with Ellis Circulation in person about which proxy borrower number is on each account. You will then add to your EMPL ID following the letter c the letter p followed by the number of the proxy (e.g. p1, p2, p3, etc.)
  5. Pin number.
    • If this is the first time you have requested a book, you will create a PIN (any combination of letters or numbers over four characters long).
    • The first time you enter your PIN, you will be asked to enter it again to ensure you typed it correctly.
  6. Connect to the My Library Account to renew a book using your EMPL ID.
    • Books and government documents may be renewed up to two times.
    • Most MU materials may be discharged and checked out anew after two renewals by bringing them with an MU ID to the circulation desk.
    • Materials from other locations, such as MERLIN and MOBIUS loans must be returned when the maximum number of renewals is reached.
