Item Detail

Vida de Seraphica madre Santa Teresa de Jesus

Teresa of Avila

Lisboa : A.V. da Silva, 1761.

Saint Teresa of Avila was a Carmelite nun of the sixteenth century who was known during her lifetime for her ecstatic religious visions. She also helped to reform the Carmelite order. Teresa was canonized in 1622 and became one of the first female Doctors of the Church in 1970. This book was recently used by a religious studies class interested in women\\\\\\\'s devotion and mysticism. This edition is also quite rare; only one other copy in the world is reported in the WorldCat database.

The conservator will remove tape, reinforce the covers, and make kozo repairs.
