William Coxe (1748-1828) was a clergyman, historian and travel writer. His first book, an account of travels in Poland, Russia, Sweden, and Denmark, was published in 1784. Travels in Switzerland was his second book, originally released in 1789. This 1791 printing is the second edition. He continued to publish prolifically throughout his life, including histories of English counties and biographies of famous writers. This work is particularly interesting to scholars studying the history of travel narratives and landscape description.

The conservator will do a kozo repair, remove tape, and touch up edges and corners on the first and third volumes of this set. The second volume has been previously adopted.
