| Castelnau, a French citizen, spent much of his life as a diplomat and ambassador to Queen Elizabeth I of England. He was unsuccessful in his attempt to reconcile Mary Stuart of Scotland and Elizabeth. However, he acted as ambassador to various other parts of Europe on behalf of France throughout his life. This book is a memoir filled with the interesting figures he met in his career. |
