He published a number of editions of works of classic authors in his lifetime, and is known for his excellent commentary. Bound in full velum, blind tooled and stamped on covers and spine, black leather title labels on spine, five raised bands, sprinkled edges. Woodcut devices on title pages of both volumes, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and initials throughout first volume. OCLC lists only one other copy held at an institution, at Columbia University.
